Tiri-Phoo village connected through fair weather road

LEH, Apr 14: The LAHDC Leh has connected Tiri-Phoo village with fair weather road which is one of the remote villages of Leh district in the Rong -Changthang area.
The construction on the 10 km Tiri-Phoo road was started in the year 2015-16 for which about Rs 7 crores have been sanctioned under NABARD. Till date,   2 km road is blacktopped and the rest 8 km is expected to be blacktopped in coming years under the same project.
To access the ongoing road construction works, the Minister for Cooperative and Ladakh Affairs, J&K Government and Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Leh, who is also the area Councilor along with SE. PWD Leh, SDM Nyoma Tsering Motup, Xen. Special Sub Division Nyoma Mohan Lal and other engineers today visited Tiri-Phoo village.
This vital road will prove beneficial for Tiri-Phoo village in every respect.  Tiri-Phoo being a famous pilgrimage destination in the Himalayan region and known for its Stupa believed to be similar to Chalung Khashor Stupa of Nepal, will get major boot in the tourism sector. About 1000 devotes have already visited the holy place with the opening of this vital road.
Addressing people at Tiri-Phoo, Minister for Cooperative and Ladakh Affairs,  Chering Dorjay and CEC, LAHDC, Leh Dorjey Motup,   said that with the arrival of road, the village will experience all kind of developmental activities in coming years. For construction of Community Hall at Tiri-Phoo, the Minister Dorjay announced Rs  3 lakh out of his constituency fund to initiate the works. Dorjay also suggested youths of village for  operating new trekking routes via Tiri-Phoo to Korzok and Tiri-Phoo to Gya.
To ensue plying of heavy vehicles including bus up to the Tiri-Phoo village, the Minister Dorjey and CEC Dorjey Motup directed Xen. SSD, Nyoma to widen sharp turns at few locations on priority, upon which Xen informed  that tender for widening of all the sharp turns on the road has already been floated and widening works will commence soon.
CEC Dorjey Motup also directed engineers to strengthen irrigation Khuls along with road construction so that farmers could sow their crops timely. He also assured farmers to give land compensation for their agriculture land which comes under road.
Earlier, in the morning the Minister Drojey and CEC DM also met with people of Hamya and listened to their grievances.
