SAMBA, Aug 2 : Tipper Association protested against the District Mining Officer at the district office here, today and accused the Mining Department of being hand in glove with the mining contractors.
The protestors said that those who have taken up the mining work they voluntarily levy rates of sand and gravel. If anyone argues with them that they are charging exorbitant rates, they refuse to provide slips to the driver of the vehicle due to which tipper operators face problems while carrying the mining material.
Vivek Sharma, head of the Tipper Association, said that “Today, we have protested after informing the district administration and the higher officials of the Mining Department many times., But it is pity that we have not been heard till date which forced us to take the extreme step’’.
He alleged that no rate was written on the slip given to tipper operators by the mining contractor. The Association informed the Department many times about it, but to no avail.
Today the Association blocked the way of the Joint Director Mining Department, H L Langhe, but he also did not have any proper answer. The Association appealed to the Deputy Commissioner, Samba, Anuradha Gupta, who strongly reprimanded the District Mining Officer, Shafiq Ahmed Choudhary and ordered that this issue should be resolved at the earliest so that the Tipper Association do not face any problem.
The Association has given a warning saying that if the issue is not resolved, then it will intensify its agitation.
Association members including Narinder Chaudhary, Sukhwinder Singh Naveen, Vishal, Mukesh, Raman and Rohit Sharma were among prominent members of the Association whop participated in the protest.
