Time up for JKPCC

Gone are the days of nepotism, corruption and inaction. Show busy do nothing policies are no more valid and the present dispensation has a clear-cut policy of perform or perish. Jammu and Kashmir has the unique distinction of highest Government employees to population ratio with four lakh plus employees, UT depends upon the central grant for even salaries. In such a scenario any Government or semi-Government or Government public sector company is nonviable when annual salaries are almost double the net profits and declining yearly. It had happened with SRTC, JAKFED, J&K Forest Corporation and Jammu and Kashmir Cements Ltd in the past. The most recent case is of JKPCC, formed with the intent to establish a world-class technical infra organisation but ended up with serious corruption, fraud and mishandled company, totally untenable on the professional front despite having a monopoly as far as Government construction orders are concerned, any construction work above seven crores was awarded to JKPCC. Several corruption cases against its higher officials, MD charge sheeted by ACB and another DGM’s services terminated-disproportionate properties attached by ED, substandard works and mismanagement are the hallmark achievements of JKPCC in the end. Nepotism and mismanagement can be gauged from the fact that there are six hundred permanent employees and eleven hundred temporary ones, who recruited them and why when JKPCC has been running in losses for years together? The final proposal for winding up has been approved and it’s just a question of time before the curtains are down for JKPCC.
However, as in the past question remained unanswered who are the persons responsible for such a misadventure, while other state public sector companies are running in profit yet in our state/UT every other organisation is deep neck in debt. Despite running in losses how the administrative department was allowing new recruitments to the extent that daily wagers are double the permanent employees. The matter is serious enough for proper investigation to fix the accountability and responsibility, corrupt and corruption have to be stamped out.
