“The Jammu and Kashmir has already been a military concentrated area. There is no need to bring more troops here. The Army has played it’s role in J&K for the past 30 years to restore democracy. However, their (Army) role is over now,” Mehbooba Mufti said while speaking to reporters in Anantnag.
She was replying to the order of deployment of 18 companies of CRPF in border districts of Poonch and Rajouri by Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
Mehbooba told reporters that the role of military is over in J&K and the GoI should come forward with a reconciliation process. “No doubt military has played a pivotal role in bringing peace and democracy in J&K. But their role has come to an end. Even their (military) top brass expressed many times that J&K cannot be resolved through militarily rather it needs a political solution to end the uncertainty in the region,” Mehbooba said.
She accused BJP of using security forces for completion of their political agenda. “BJP is triggering guns on the shoulders of Army to fetch it’s political agenda,” she said.
While urging GoI to come forward for dialogue, the PDP chief said: “Why BJP is running away from dialogue on Kashmir. Why they opt reconciliation with China who not only occupied our land in Ladakh but also martyred our dozens of soldiers in recent past.”
“When confabulations can take place with China, why GoI is running away from dialogue on Kashmir?” she asked.
