Big producers should set up studios in Valley

Srinagar, Aug 6: Bollywood actor, producer Rahul Bhat today said that there is a need for bringing positive stories from Kashmir and that the local talent should be utilized in the movies that will be made in Kashmir in the days to come.
Addressing a press conference here, Bhat said that the tension is everywhere, but bringing out positive stories is going to be important.

“Those who are trying to highlight the negativities should not be allowed to do so. It is a time to carry forward the positive things and whenever I will make a movie, it is all going to be positive,” he said.
He said that everyone in Kashmir has suffered over the last few decades and that there is a need for showcasing the real positive stories from Kashmir. “There is a need to show the people that people in Kashmir also laugh,” he said.
He said that Kashmir is known for its beauty and Bollywood should use that for its films. “At the same time, there is a need for engaging the local talent,” he said.
Bhat made his film debut in Yeh Mohabbat Hai, followed by the comedy Nayee Padosan including several other films. He has also played the role of Devdas in the Daas Dev and has also worked in the film Section 375.
While appreciating the efforts of the UT Government, Bhat said that the recently launched Film Policy is going to be beneficial and can pave a way for the industry to give a boost to tourism.
“The big producers should come here and establish their studios. They should get the land on subsidies so that they can start the work. And in those studious, the local talented people should be employed,” he said.
Bhat said that in the coming years, he is determined to make at least 10 movies in Kashmir. “I am determined to do that and soon, I will also be making a movie in Kashmir named ‘Made in Kashmir’ and there all actors are going to be Kashmiris,” he said.
