Three thieves nabbed, 20 stolen batteries recovered

JAMMU, Dec 25: Satwari police today claimed to have solved a theft case by arresting three thieves and recovering 20 stolen batteries from their possession.
“On December 22, a man namely Tara Chand son of Lal chand of Upper Gadigarh lodged a written report at police post Gadigarh that some one has stolen battery of his mini-bus bearing registration number JK02BN-2507,” a police official said.
He said acting on the complaint, a case FIR number 256/2020 under Section 379 IPC was registered at police station Satwari and a special police team headed by SHO police station Satwari Inspector Nishant Gupta and comprising SI Lakhvir Singh (Incharge police post Gadigarh) was constituted as a number of complaints were reported regarding the theft of motor vehicle batteries in the jurisdiction of police station Satwari.
The police team after hectic efforts rounded up three suspects Hilal Sheikh son of Saleem Sheikh of Murshidabad in West Bengal (at present living in Ranibagh, Gadigarh), Milan Sheikh son of Noor Aslam Sheikh of Murshidabad (at present (Rohi Morh, Gadigarh) and Deepu alias Motto son of Mohan Lal of Govindpura (Chatha).
The official said that during sustained questioning, the suspects confessed their involvement in the instant case and on their disclosure stolen Amaron battery along with other 19 batteries and one vibrator machine suspected to be stolen from different locations were recovered.
“Further investigation is going on and more recoveries are expected,” he added.
