KARGIL, Dec 25: Police in Kargil has claimed to have solved three burglary cases by arresting a thief and recovering stolen articles worth Rs 4 lakh from his possession.
With the arrest of the accused identified as Farooq Ahmad Khan son of Mohd Sharif Khan, resident of Palipora (Boniyar, Baramulla), Kargil Police has solved three cases vide FIR Numbers 80/2022, 118/2022 and 130/2022 registered under Section 457, 380 IPC.
According to the Police, the accused was presenting running Mughal Bakery Shop at Main Market Kargil. Twelve mobile phones worth about Rs 4 lakh were recovered so far from the possession of the accused, who had stolen the same from Nisar Hussain Electronic Shop in Main Bazar Kargil.
“The accused has also stolen jewellery worth Rs 4 lakh, cash about Rs 2 lakh and mobile phones worth Rs 6 lakh from 10 different locations of Kargil mainly around the Main Town on different occasions by breaking open the shutters with steel rod during late night hours whereas 7 theft incidents out of 10 which were not reported has also been commissioned by the accused,” Police said.
After committing the theft, the accused used to sell the stolen jewellery and maximum number of mobiles phones at Srinagar to different people in order to avoid the risk of being nabbed and get caught by local police, Police disclosed, adding, investigation of rest of the cases are under progress and with questioning of the accused more recovery of stolen property is expected.
The whole action was carried out by Kargil Police under the supervision of Iftikhar Ahmad Choudhary (Additional SP Kargil) and overall supervision of Anayat Ali (SSP Kargil.
