Three religious fairs conclude in Kathua district

KATHUA, Apr 7: Three religious fairs organised at different places in this district with religious colour and festivity, concluded today.
In two day, Ariwan mela, devotees started arriving in large numbers on the first ray of light from the first day of mela. Some devotees had arrived at mela venue a day earlier to have the first glimpses of Lord Shiva’s Lingam. People had lined up and were chanting religious slogans. After having darshan, they enjoyed the fair.
Another mela of old temple Bala Sundriji, at Nagri Parole also concluded, today, wherein people from different walks of life participated. Devotees from different parts of State and outside joined in large numbers.
In another two day Jhandi mela, devotees had ‘Shanan’at ‘sarovar’ and then paid their respect to the Lord in the temple and enjoyed the village fair.
These festivals symbolised various cultures and traditions in which people celebrate different fairs and festivals because of this Kathua is also know as land of festivity.
About 50,000 to 60,000 devotees visited these holy places.
