JAMMU, Oct 19: Bishnah Police arrested three persons of a family with 27 grams heroin and Rs 1.60 lakh cash, which is assumed to be earned by selling the contraband.
As per police sources, on reliable information a team from Police Station Bishnah laid a naka near Chorli Kothey and asked three persons including a lady, who were coming from Chorli Kothey towards Bishnah, to stop.
On seeing police cops, trio tried to escape, but the cops intercepted them after a brief chase.
During checking, police team recovered 27 grams heroin and Rs 1.60 lakh cash from the possession of the trio and arrested them. The cash recovered is assumed to be earned by selling the contraband.
The arrested persons were identified as Baldev Raj, son of Kalu Ram, a resident of Chorli Kothey Tehsil Bishnah District Jammu, his wife Boli Devi and son Sunny Kumar.
A case FIR Number 155/2021 under Section 8/21/22/27 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bishnah and investigation started to ascertain the source of the consignment and other persons involved in this illegal trade.
It is pertinent to mention here that Sunny Kumar was also evading his arrest in a case registered under FIR Number 97/2021 under Sections 341, 323 and 34 IPC with Police Station Bishnah. He was also involved in 19 FIRs registered against him with Police Station Bishnah. Sunny Kumar and Baldev Raj are notorious criminal and were also detained under stringent Public Safety Act (PSA).
Police team led by SHO Bishnah Inspector Joginder Singh Chib and assisted by PSI Harish Chander made the arrests under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura Shabir Khan, SP Headquarters Jammu Ramnish Gupta and SSP Jammu Chandan Kohli.
