Three injured in road accidents, two consume poison

JAMMU, Nov 3: Three persons were injured today in separate road mishaps while two made abortive attempts on their lives by consuming some poisonous substances at their respective residences in city and its outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, a Head Constable of J&K police identified as Bharat Singh of Akhnoor received serious head injuries during the intervening night of Nov 2 and 3 when he lost control over the bike he was riding on and it collided with barrier of the Akhnoor bridge. The injured cop was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, from where his family members took him to a private hospital in Ludhiana for specialized treatment.
A pedestrian identified as Poli Devi (50) wife of Sham Lal, resident of Vikram Chowk, sustained injuries when she was hit by a Santro car at Vikram Chowk. Another pedestrian identified as Laxmi Devi (43) wife of Ram Lal, resident of Jagti (Nagrota) was hit and injured by a scooty at Indra Chowk. Both the injured were admitted in GMCH Jammu.
Meanwhile, a man identified as Ramesh Lal (32) son of Daulat Ram, resident of Kathar (Arnia) and a youth identified as Sunil Kumar (18) son of Rattan Lal, resident of Kandoli (Nagrota) allegedly tried to end their lives by consuming some poisonous substances at their respective residences. They were shifted to GMCH for treatment.
In all cases, the concerned police had taken cognizance of the matter.
