LEH, July 12: Police here claimed that they have arrested three drug peddlers and recovered 160 grams of Charas-like-substance from their possession.
A police spokesperson said that on the evening of July 10, a party from Police Post Housing Colony, Leh, raided and searched the residence of one Sunny Kumar of Agling, Leh, acting on reliable information.
During the search, he said, the police party recovered 160 grams of Charas-like-substance from their possession.
Accordingly, a case FIR number 112/2023 under sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Leh and investigation started, he said.
During interrogation and evaluation of the technical evidences, the spokesperson further said that two other persons namely Jigmat Gyalpo of Shara, Leh and Jigmat Otzer of Liker, Leh, were also found involved in the crime as they would sell the narcotics along with the person already held.
“Accordingly, legal action under relevant sections of the law was initiated against the other criminals,” he added.
Meanwhile, Leh Police has earnestly appealed the general public to come forward in case of having any information about the drug peddlers to break the nexus of the narcotics in the area.
