JAMMU, June 27: Gharota police today arrested three gamblers and recovered a cash amount of about Rs 20,000 from their possession.
A team of police station Gharota headed by SHO police station Gharota Inspector Khyati Maan Khajuria assisted by PSI Vijay Kumar while on patrolling duty in the area under its jurisdiction received an information about the gamblers being there in an open field.
On this, police team reached the spot and nabbed the three gamblers along with Rs 19,460 stake money and one deck of playing cards. The accused were identified as Ajay Kumar son of Gurbachan Lal and Ashok Kumar son of Sewak Ram, both residents of lower Gharota and Keshwar Sharma son of late Som Dutt Sharma of lower Gharota (but at present Shakti Nagar, Jammu).
In this regard, cognizance U/S 13 of Gambling Act was taken by the Gharota police and accused were arrested. Further investigation of the case is going on.
The overall arrest and recoveries were made under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Varun Jandial.
