JAMMU, Mar 9: Three fresh cases of swine flu have been reported in Jammu, taking the number of positive cases this year to 57 in Jammu region where 3 people have succumbed to the H1N1 virus.
“The department today received six reports from New Delhi out of which three were positive for H1N1 virus while other three turned out to be negative”, Director Health Jammu, BS Pathania revealed.
He further disclosed that swine flu has so far claimed three lives in Jammu region and 57 have tested positive for the deadly H1N1 virus since its outbreak in the region.
“In the current year 283 samples have been tested till date, out of which 57 found to be positive for H1N1 while 154 were negative”, he said adding 12 more swab samples of suspected patients were sent today for testing to New Delhi.
Meanwhile, Medical Superintendent, Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, Dr Ravinder Ratan Pal informed that a total of 40 patients were screened today in flu OPD of the hospital and samples of 12 of them were taken for testing.
“As of now, 10 patients are admitted in Isolation Ward of the hospital and all are responding well to the treatment being given to them”, he added.
