Three encounters underway in the Valley; one terrorist killed, many more trapped

Srinagar: Three encounters broke out between the security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir early on Thursday. Exchange of firing between the security personnel and terrorists was reported from Dooru Shahabad in Anantnag district, Noorbagh in Srinagar city, and Chadoora in Budgam.

– In the encounter at Dooru Shahabad in Anantnag, one terrorist has been killed by the security forces. The firing has currently stopped and a search operation is underway, reports said. Two more terrorists could be present in the area, as per sources. The forces had launched a cordon and search operation after getting a tip-off that the terrorists could be present in the area. The encounter started after insurgents opened fire on the security forces. Meanwhile, internet services have been suspended in the area.

– In Panzan area in Budgam’s Chadoora, an encounter was underway between security forces and terrorists who were hiding in a village. It is suspected that three terrorists could be trapped in the area.

– An encounter was also underway at Srinagar city’s Noorbagh area. Two terrorists were believed to be trapped there. As a precautionary measure, the authorities have suspended internet services. Meanwhile, a civilian has lost his life in the exchange of fire between security personnel and terrorists. (Agencies)
