JAMMU, Oct 15: Organized by Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan Jammu, the three-day Surya Putri Tawi Ganga Ghat Navratra Sanskriti Mahotsav concluded with immersion of Saakh and Arti Pujan at Har Ki Pauri amid a series of religious and cultural programs.
The programme was organized under the aegis of Union Ministry of Culture under the scheme Cultural Function and Production Grant in close coordination with Shree 108 Swami Chitanand Swami Saraswati Dham. The function was inaugurated by chief guest, senior BJP leader Yudveer Sethi along with Ramesh Chander Gupta, president Mahajan Sabha Jammu and former president of Chamber of Commerce and Industries.
The programme commenced with Arti of Mata Suriya Putri “Jai Jai Surya Putri Tawi Namami Ganga Jai Jai”, written, produced and directed by Dr M L Dogra. The artists presented light classical dance. The Festival, first of its kind, besides showcasing the various aspects of our folk and culture, unveiled the history, origin, sanctity of holy River Tawi and its importance through presentation of “Tawi Arti” on the pattern of Navami Ganga Haridwar Arti daily.
The chief guest, while speaking on the occasion, expressed satisfaction and happiness over the glowing success of the event among the visiting pilgrims. He also lauded the performances of the artists at different venues of the bank of Tawi River during the Festival.
Speaking on the occasion, Ramesh Chander Gupta expressed his happiness over organizing Tawi Darshan at Har Ki Pauri. He emphasized on renovation and repair of Ghats at Har Ki Pauri so that tourists/pilgrims could perform Abhishek and Puja on the bank of Suryaputri. He assured that daily Arti Pujan will be organized every day as the pattern of Har Ki Pauri, Haridwar.
In his keynote address, Dr M L Dogra highlighted the story of Mata Surya Putri which originates in Kailash Kund glacier located in Jammu’s Bhaderwah area. He said that such initiatives were important to instill in people a sense of cleanliness and how they can play important role to keep their surroundings clean.
On the concluding day today, a folk cultural performance of Geetru by M/s Ram Ditta and Party, Kudru by Sangam Tru Art Production, Dandars by Deepak Kumar and Party, Karkan by Sarswati Sangeet Kala and Party, Baran by Ali Mohd and Party, Bakh by Nazir Mohd, Raju Bajgal and J R Jakson and Party, Sahil Gill and Party, Sudesh Kumari and Party, and Ajit Sharma and Party were staged.
