Three arrested with around 300 kgs of poppy straw

JAMMU, Sept 11: Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF)–a specialized unit of Jammu and Kashmir Police to check rising menace of drug, arrested three drug peddlers with around 300 kilograms of poppy straw.
According to Superintendent of Police (SP) ANTF, information was received that two trucks bearing Registration Number JK02AD-0568 driven by Javed Ahmed Chichi, son of Mukhtayar Ahmed Chichi of Hillar Arhama district Anantnag and JK03C-5466 driven by Rameez Ahmed, son of Saif ud Din of Muniwar district Anantnag along with co-driver Javed Ahmed, son of Ali Mohammad of Sofi Gund Wanpoo District Anantnag are coming from Kashmir valley to Jammu in which large quantity of poppy straw is concealed.
“Acting over the information, cases under FIR Number 10/2022 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act and FIR Number 11/2022 under Section 8/15/29 NDPS Act were registered at Police Station ANTF Jammu”, SP said, adding that ANTF teams immediately swung into action and laid Naka at NHW-44 near Bagh-e-Bahu Morh on Sidhra Narwal Bye Pass Road.
The above-mentioned trucks were stopped by the ANTF teams and during their search, 293.590 kilograms of poppy straw were recovered, SP ANTF said, adding that all the three accused persons were arrested in the instant case and both trucks were seized.
Anti Narcotics Task Force is investigating further links and more arrests are expected, he added.
SP ANTF Vinay Sharma has appealed to the general public to share information regarding such drug dealers so that appropriate legal actions are taken against them and this menace is uprooted from our society.
