Thousands pay obeisance at ancient Kaal Bhairav Temple

JAMMU, Nov 20: Thousands of devotees today paid obeisance at ancient Kaal Bhairav Temple located at Chowk Chabutra, Jammu, on the occasion of Kaal Bhairav Ashtami.
Under the supervision of Pandit Rumil Sharma, a mega bhandara was organized in the Temple. A number of food stalls were arranged and Prasad were served to the devotees. A special stall for children was also organized wherein the children were distributed their favourite chocolates, packed juices, toffees, jellies and balloons.
Devotees from not only Jammu city but also other parts of district participated in the celebrations and took blessings of Bhagwan Bhairav Nath. On the occasion, the temple was decorated beautifully with flowers and lights. The surroundings of the Temple were covered under laser lights and the whole market was decorated with lights and buntings.
A day to prior to the Bhandara, a congregation of about 52 castes was held at the Temple during which devotees performed several rituals.
Talking with the media persons on the occasion, Pt Rumil Sharma said this Bhairav Ashtami is celebrated every year in this ancient temple to pay obeisance to Bhagwan Kaal Bhairav by holding week-long celebrations in the form of Prabhat Pheris, followed by Bhandara.
He said no Pooja is complete without paying obeisance to Kaal Bhairav who resides in Bhrikuti (eyebrows) of Bhagwan Shiva and is equally important as Bhagwan Ganesha who is paid obeisance before the start of any prayer.
