Thieves decamp with goods, cash from 11 shops in Vijaypur

SAMBA, Feb 21: Burglars have broke open 11 shops and decamped with cash and goods lying their last night in Vijaypur area.
As per reports, the thieves entered inside the shops by breaking the locks of their shutters and stole cash and other items lying there. Thieves stole Rs 3000 cash and other items from the Necklace Ware Shop at Tamour, Hans Raj, Vakil Singh, son of Gyan Singh also resident of Tamour, Mohanlal, son of Om Prakash resident of Sungali from their tyre repair shop, Raj Kumar, son of Bishan Das resident Tamour from his fruit shop, from shop of Balwan Singh resident of Dabuj and from shop of Jafar Hussain, son Mohammad Hussain.
The theft came to light on Monday morning when some people and nearby shopkeepers found the locks of the shutters of their business establishments broken and they informed the shopkeepers. As soon as the information was received, the shopkeepers arrived and they collected the details of the stolen cash and goods. They lodged a complaint at Police Station Vijaypur. The police team also reached the spot and inspected the shops and collected the evidence. In the CCTV footage installed in a shop, a thief is also seen carrying out the theft. The police are examining the footage of the CCTV camera.
Police have registered a case in this regard and started further action. There is also a lot of anger among the residents and shopkeepers regarding the incidents of theft.
People have demanded arrest of the gang and solving of the cases of theft that have also taken place earlier in the area. One Tata Mobile JK02BE 9349 was also stolen from Ward No. 11 Vijaypur. Balwant Singh, the owner of the vehicle said that he had parked it nearby his house, in the morning when he saw the vehicle was missing from that place. The police have taken cognizance of the matter.
Meanwhile District Police Samba has arrested a notorious thief within 12 hours after the commission of thefts in Jakh and Rahya areas during the intervening night of 20 and 21 under the jurisdiction of PS Vijaypur.
Acting on information of thefts in multiple places during the intervening night of yesterday, SSP Samba, Dr. Abhishek Mahajan, immediately constituted a special team headed by SHO PS Vijaypur under the supervision of SDPO Vijaypur to work out the theft cases in their areas.
The police team after hectic efforts, gathered vital clues and succeeded in the arrest of a notorious thief involved in theft cases at Jakh & Rahya committed by him during the intervening night of 20 and 21. The accused has been identified as Mohit Singh, S/O Goverdhansingh of KailiMandi Samba. It is surfaced during the preliminary investigation that the said accused is also involved in various other theft cases in the area.
