JAMMU, Dec 7: Police here today arrested a thief and recovered stolen items worth Rs. 3 lakh on his disclosure.
A complaint was lodged at Police Station Gandhi Nagar by one Vaneet Gupta son of Vijay Gupta of Gandhi Nagar regarding theft of mobile phones, tablets and accessories from his shop M/S Hotshopee, Gandhi Nagar.
In this regard a case in FIR No. 275/2022 U/S 457/380/IPC was registered and investigation started.
Police teams of Police Station Gandhi Nagar under the supervision of SDPO South Sachit Sharma were constituted and the team led by SHO Police Station Gandhi Nagar, Inspector Pankaj Sharma took the help of CCTV footages of the area and rounded up a suspect Bablu Mandal son of Joginder Mandal of Ekchari Bhagalpur Bihar at present Preet Nagar Digiana.
During sustained questioning, he confessed his involvement in the theft and on his disclosure a team of cops was deputed to Bhagalpur, Bihar which raided several locations there with the help of local police there and recovered 18 mobile phones and one tablet.
The estimated cost of recovered stolen property is around Rs. 3 lakh.
Further investigation in the case is going on.
