Thief held, stolen gold ornaments recovered

JAMMU, July 8: Pacca Danga police today arrested a thief and recovered the stolen gold ornaments worth Rs 5.5 lakh from his possession.
Addressing a press conference at Pacca Danga police station, SSP Atul Goel said that, on June 23, Raghubir Singh, son of Krishan Lal of Janipura had lodged a complaint with Pacca Danga police station, that some thieves have broken the window of their vehicle and fled away with the gold jewellery worth Rs 5.5 lakh when they were taking dinner in a restaurant.
In this regard, a case under FIR No.110/13 under Section 379 RPC was registered at Pacca Danga police station and investigations started, Mr Goel added.
During investigations, police questioned a person, who has been identified as Vikas Gurai, son of Meenkunja Gurai of Badnapur, Kolkata, presently putting up at Housing Colony Janipura, during which he broke down and confessed the crime, he added.
On his disclosure, police recovered the stolen gold ornaments, the SSP Jammu said.
Police parties headed by SHO Pacca Danga Inspector Vijay Choudhary worked out the theft under the supervision of SDPO East Kulbir Honda.
