JAMMU, Jan 11: Police arrested a thief and recovered stolen gold ornaments weighing 4 tolas and Rs 2,000 cash.
As per police sources, on January 8 this year, a complaint was lodged by a lady namely Bably Devi, wife of Ashok Kumar of Yatri Bhawan, Puran Nagar with Police Post Talab Tillo stating that some unknown thieves entered into her house on January 7 this year and decamped with gold ornaments weighing 4 tolas and Rs 2000 cash.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 5/2021 under Sections 454 and 380 IPC was registered at Police Station Nowabad and hunt was launched to nab the thieves.
During the course of investigation, a team led by SHO Nowabad Inspector Deepak Jasrotia and assisted by Incharge Police Post Talab Tillo SI Kali Charan rounded up several suspects and finally arrested the thief, who was identified as Mandeep Singh, son of Murti Singh of Jhalandar Punjab.
On his disclosure, stolen gold items weighing 4 tolas and Rs 2000 cash were recovered.
Further investigation is going on to ascertain his involvement in any other case.
