POONCH, Nov 19: The police arrested a thief and recovered stolen cash from him in Poonch today.
Official sources said that on November 17, a written complaint was lodged by one Mohd Shafi, son of Mir Hussain, resident of Shahpur, tehsil Haveli in district Poonch at the local Police Station mentioning that on Nov 17, 2023 he went to J&K Bank Poonch City and withdrew Rs 50,000 from his account out of which Rs 35,000 was stolen by some unknown person/persons.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 199/2023 U/S 380 IPC was registered at Police Station Poonch and investigation taken up.
During investigation, several suspects were rounded up. With the help of technical as well as human intelligence, accused was identified and a manhunt was launched to apprehend him. After hectic efforts, the accused has been arrested who disclosed his identity as Sayeed Badar Ali, son of Nazir Hussain from Bagh Mohalla, Kaudi Birjalla, Uri in Baramulla. The stolen cash amounting to Rs. 33,000 has been recovered from his possession.
The arrest and recovery has been made by Inspr Deepak Pathania SHO Poonch, assisted by PSI Darminder Singh under the close supervision of Afrat Hussain DySP Hqrs Poonch.
