Theft bid in JK Bank’s Dhar Galoon branch

MENDHAR, Jan 24:  A major theft attempt was made by some unknown burglars in Dhar Galoon branch of Jammu and Kashmir Bank in Gursai area of Mendhar in district Poonch last night.
The people of the area came to know about the matter when they noticed locks of the shutter of the bank broken during morning. They contacted some bank staff members. Then they informed Gursai Police Station about the matter. The Police party led by SHO Narinder Singh Chib reached there. After  some time, SDPO Mendhar Surinder Choudhary and Tehsildar concerned also rushed there.
The police did not allow anyone to go inside the bank till Forensic team from Poonch arrived and started its work. It was found that thieves had tried their best to break the chest  containing cash but they failed in their attempt. Then they preferred to escape sensing trouble. The bank staff counted cash and examined record and found every thing intact.
The police registered a case and started investigation. It was said that a guard has also been deployed by the bank for protection of branch but he was not on duty last night. The police said that some suspects were brought to the police station and detailed for questioning. However, no headway could be made into the case so far. Further  investigation was in progress.
