The story behind struggle

Dr. Sahil Gorka
Everybody has to struggle at least once in his lifetime, from the street vendors to business tycoons, from celebrities to the office guys. Some had to struggle in the past , some are doing in the present and some might have to struggle in the future. Everyone has to, except the ” Big daddy guys ” who get everything in the platter but then they also can’t taste the flavour of hard earned success.
“Struggle starts with a dream, a dream to become something that you have seen someone else become or to become someone that you’ve never seen anyone become.”
It’s a spark that pushes you to do something outrightly unusual from your daily routine. You wake up, go to work, you come back and you sleep but there is one thing that constantly runs through your mind, that’s your dream. Chase it before you are too old to even remember what you actually dreamt about.
The path to success is always loaded with obstacles, if it’s not, then it’s a path too often walked over. The real champion is the one who runs, fights and takes all these obstacles one by one while not losing hope in between failures. That is success for me.
During struggle, very frequently you’ll get the feeling that maybe you took a job too big for your caliber, maybe you’re not competent enough, maybe you’re getting worse every day. But at the end of the day, you know what you need and what needs to be done, so every morning you must wake up fighting against your own reasons and not sleep until you’ve silenced the demons inside you, the ones that tell you that you can’t succeed.
Most men and women make up their mind about their target, long before they actually start working towards it. That is actually great. It lets the idea seep into their soul. A dream that has been in your eyes for too long, naturally become vivid. You start imagining yourself in that position, working at that place, long before you have actually taken the first step towards your dream. That is a healthy sign. If you can imagine it, you can do it. Most people lose belief in themselves midway between failures and usually fade away, so belief is important.
While you start your hard work, firstly make a plan. Ask your seniors, mentors, family and people of knowledge about how to make a realistic goal and intelligent plan.
” Knowing your abilities is a must, but without knowing and accepting your limitations, you would be a fool, a stubborn fool. ”
Work according to your plans. It’s a universal truth that the time tables or plans that are made, don’t hold true for more than a week, but don’t bow down to the time schedule. Work for extra hours, squeeze out the time, make sure the target for the day is achieved. Divide your time into short periods and make smaller targets, achieve them and move to the next target. The good thing about smaller targets is that they appear achievable. Once you know they can be achieved, the rest of the thing is easy. So even if your destination is huge, make small targets in the pathway. Achieve them one by one as you go up and you can ultimately achieve what was once impossible.
No real success is ever achieved without hard work and failure. To succeed, you must learn the art of trying and failing. When you suffer failure, you realize what you did wrong and you get an opportunity to better yourself. You must keep fighting.
” Struggle ends only at success and not at failures. ”
During your phase of struggle, it’s not your failures that pinch you, it’s the success of the people lower than you. That is the moment when you start doubting yourself as to why can’t you while they can. When you hit rock bottom in your life, everything falls apart, that is the lowest you can get, that’s the time when either a mediocre dies or a champion is born !
You must remember that everyone has a different story to deal. Don’t compare yourself with anyone else. If you are not getting something, it means god wants you to be better prepared because he has something bigger and better for you. If you were ready for it, you would have got through it. Since you didn’t get through it, u must work harder. The harder you work, the better your future will become.
Also, the attitude of people around you changes with each failure of yours. Don’t be afraid if you lose a few of your pals. If they aren’t part of your struggle, they shouldn’t be a part of your success too.
” During struggle, many people would walk away, those are the ones you don’t need in your success party ! ”
” Peak ” is a very important term that majority of people fail to realize. It is a reason for failures despite being brilliant in preparations.
How many times have you seen one of your colleagues being successful despite being callous all through the year and preparing at the last moment. That is the thing called ” peaking at the right moment “. Some people know what it means to deliver your best when it matters the most. Plan your preparations in such a way that the exam date coincides with the day when you have maximum knowledge and you are at your peak. Some people commit the mistake of being at the ascent or descent of their preparations at exam time and despite working so hard they cannot succeed to give their 100 %. Don’t commit this mistake and give your best shot at the best day.
Finally, after all that struggle and failures, one fine day you come out strongly and achieve what you once dreamt of. That moment seems like a dream for the first few minutes. Eventually when it seeps down, sit down and thank your god and all those who helped you achieve your dream. Be thankful, modest and humble.
” If by chance, you don’t succeed, try once, twice, thrice and then stop being a fool about it. Hold on to something u can hold on to. ”
Move on and do some introspection, whether you really wanted it ? whether you worked as hard as was required ?  whether you are capable enough for it ?  If you assume any of these answers as “NO”, feel no shame in realizing your caliber and change your target. Be realistic, as not everyone at the top is a winner. There are many other mountains that you can climb. Realize your actual potential and aptitude.
“If you are a fish, then swim. Don’t try to climb a tree ”
The day you realize who you are and what you actually want, is the day you are actually born.
