“The Eternal Bond”

Gehna Kochhar
Why is it that, whether it’s friendship or Relationship, the exciting spark it fades with time?
You keep trying to hold it tighter, but someone rightly said -“the tighter you hold on to someone, the more they want to slip away…”
All-day, you can’t stop thinking about how strong those bonds were, with people who were once on the top of your priority list, but now, see how the tables have turned, you don’t even know if their same number on which you made thousands of calls, even exists or not?
We all no longer care how important someone was in our lives,
How much beautiful memories we made,
The endless secrets the two of you shared,
We all are so much involved in trying to let the people down who are longer in our lives due to certain reasons, that we fail to process it in our mind- “ They were once your happy place,
Your best friend you wished to spend every friendship day with,
Your soulmate you hoped to explore everything about love with.”
We tried our best to save it, didn’t we? We tried everything we could, but sometimes trying our best is not the best or enough for somebody else.
You may have crossed oceans according to you to make it work, but for them, it was equivalent to crossing a puddle.
I know it’s difficult to recall the old times, remembering people who’ve hurt you, but is it that; that they never provided you the warmth, never were your place to go to,
Your home when everyone else was just running ahead, didn’t they comfort you?
Because I truly feel, the things that have hurt us, broke us mentally, were once the ones that were our only support and home to rush to!
But now,
Why do we feel the shame to admit it?
Just because life goes on,
And we moved on,
Why do we never pay gratitude to the people who were once a major part of our lives?
Why do we forget no matter how many diamonds we collect, the old will always be gold!
I agree to appreciate the people who wounded your heart, is the most difficult thing to do, but what if your one act of appreciation brings you back your long lost connections?
We ask ourselves all the time, “Why should I be the one always to make a move, to let the past go, to let the hatred breathe out and positivity breathe in,” but just remember, even the other person has the same heart, sometimes the same thinking as you do.
We all have nights when we miss how great things were,
How precious those life turning conversations were,
But we won’t ever express it, why?
Because we aren’t supposed to ever reach out to people who have hurt us,
To talk about it to anyone,
To express ourselves to people who once mattered…
It’s 3 am
And you are crying silently,
Trying to shut your eyes,
To soothe the pain your
Heart is dealing with,
To get away with the burden
Your mind is holding,
You just wish to sleep
And let it all go…
But all you do is
Blame yourself,
Asking-
Where did it all go wrong?
Was it not meant to be, or wasn’t it strong enough to work?
Acceptance is the art of leading a happy life, and so is appreciation!
Learn to appreciate even those who have hurt you, because once they were the ones that made you the happiest.
Even though the times aren’t same now, and talking about expressing our love to people who love us is always appreciated, but sending our love to the ones who mattered long ago, is never appreciated, but to keep your life going and to make your heart happy; learn to show gratitude even to the ones, who try to break you!
I know it’s easy to pen this down, but difficult to imbibe it, but why not give it a try, maybe it provides you the solace you are looking for!
