NEW DELHI, Nov 24: Punjab-based Thapar University today signed an agreement with Trinity College Dublin as part of its efforts to impart global standard education at its campus here.
The partnership between the two institutes will promote academic collaboration in key areas of undergraduate and post graduate programmes, research and student and staff mobility, a joint statement by the universities said.
“I will not call it an agreement but a collaboration to promote the educational system of the country with the help of a global leader,” Chairman of Thapar University’s Board of Governors, R R Vederah told PTI.
“Actually a lot of young Indians today aspire for international education, but they cannot afford it. I hope we will be able to fulfil this dream with this collaboration,” he added.
The agreement will be followed by a five year academic plan which will include exchange programmes for students and teachers, joint research initiatives and dual campus degrees where students can complete half of their course at Thapar University’s Patiala campus and the other half in Dublin, university officials said.
President and Provost, Trinity College Dublin, Patrick Prendergast said, “I look forward to this collaboration as it is an endeavour to leverage our global partnerships. India has a lot of potential and I hope it will help to explore the possibilities.” (PTI)
