BANGKOK, Aug 20: Thailand’s economy is expected to grow 5.5-6.0 percent this year rather than the 5.5-6.5 percent predicted in May, the state planning agency said on Monday.
It slashed its 2012 export growth forecast to 7.3 percent from the 15.1 percent seen in May.
Last month, the Bank of Thailand lowered its forecast for economic growth this year to 5.7 percent from 6.0 percent and its export growth projection to 7 percent from 8 percent.
Economists in a Reuters quarterly poll in July forecast economic growth of 5.0 percent.
