KATHUA, Apr 4: The terminated paramedical staff held protest demonstration against the Health and Medical Authorities for the issuance of termination letter in their favour after their selection under SRO-24 and completion of one year term.
Raising slogans in favour of their issues, the protesters assembled in the premises of Medical College Associate Hospital Kathua and strongly demanded to get their extension letter after completion of one year agreement period.
They marched towards the hospital gate and blocked the main gate for some time while maintaining social distance.
A police team immediately reached on the spot and dispersed the protesters.
The protesters Pooja Kumari, Anju Kumari, Neelam and Ishfaq Ahmed said that the Principal Govt Medical College Kathua, Suleman Choudhary had issued termination letter in their by adopting use and throw policy.
They alleged that on their places non-technical staff has been put on job in the wards, adding even the retired doctors are also called to perform the duties, while the trained and professional staff has been terminated.
Demanding extension letter to continue the work in such tough times against COVID-19, the protesters said the action of the authorities is totally against the norms and departmental ethics.
Later-on, the protesters also submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Kathua, OP Bhagat for consideration of their demands.
