Tension in Gursai after clash over land dispute

MENDHAR, May 11: Tension gripped Harmutta village under Gursai Police jurisdiction in Mendhar Sub Division of  district Poonch today after a clash between members of  two families.
Official sources said that with the timely intervention of Police and prominent locals,  the bloodshed was averted between two parties over an old dispute on 21 kanals of land.  There was verbal clash and scuffle between the two sides in which three members received minor injuries.
Reports said that the land presently under dispute, is in the possession of  Imtiaz Hussain Shah and his family. Mohd Rafiq (a DySP), son of Mir Mohammed, resident of Parat claims that he had purchased this land from  Aftab Hussain Shah,  uncle of  Imtiaz Hussain some time back. While Imtiaz claims that land belonged to them and they have valid old land record of the said land.
Today the family of Mohd Rafiq police officer entered the said land during wee hours and tried to take it in possession. They also raised tent in the said land. The family of Imtiaz Hussain came out  and both sides had clash. There was little stoning, scuffle and verbal duel among them. Gursai police immediately rushed to the spot and controlled the situation.
Later, SDPO Mendhar Riaz Tantray, Tehsildar Shahzad Khan  and Additional SP Poonch, Mr Mir also arrived there along with reinforcement. The major bloody clash was averted.  Tesildar using his  Magisterial powers  imposed restrictions under Section 145 and  also deployed  police party there. The situation was defused and both sides were asked to produce record in the Revnue office at Mendhar.
