Srinagar, June 21: The upper reaches of Shopian district and Zojila received a few inches of snow as rains lashed the Valley leading to drop in the temperatures.
Peer Ki Gali in Shopian district received 3 inches of fresh snowfall, disrupting normal traffic movement on the road today.
The upper reaches of Zojila Pass on the Srinagar-Ladakh highway also experienced fresh snowfall, while several parts of the Ladakh region were lashed by rain today.
Srinagar and other major parts of Kashmir have experienced intermittent light to moderate rainfall since morning, bringing down the temperature.
As the temperature dropped tourists were seen wearing warm clothes to cope with the cold.
The MeT office has predicted the weather will generally remain cloudy with light rain or thundershowers at many places in Kashmir today.
There is a possibility of light rain/thundershowers at isolated places during the next two days while the weather will generally remain dry, with the possibility of light rain/thundershowers at isolated places can’t be ruled out during June 24 to 28.

“There will be heat wave over the plains of Jammu division from June 22”, it said.
Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 19.5°C and it was 9.7°C below normal for the city. Qazigund recorded a maximum temperature of 18.4°C and it was 9.0°C below normal for the place. Pahalgam recorded a maximum temperature of 13.8°C and it was 11.0°C below normal for the place. Kupwara recorded a maximum temperature of 19.6°C and it was 10.1°C below normal for the place. Kokernag recorded a maximum temperature of 17.4°C and it was 9.8°C below normal for the place. Gulmarg recorded a maximum temperature of 11.2°C and it was 8.8°C below normal for the place.
Srinagar had a minimum temperature recorded during the intervening nights of Thursday and Friday at 15.4°C, which was 0.4°C below normal during this period of the season. It also received 5.7 mm of rainfall during the past 24 hours till 0830 hours today.
The tourist spot of Pahalgam recorded temperature of 10.4°C, the picnic spot of Kokernag 15.1°C, and the famous ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district had minimum 8.5°C today.
