JAMMU, May 23: Demanding continuation of their service, temporary teachers today held a protest demonstration near the Press Club Jammu.
Carrying banners and placards, the protesting teachers raised slogans in support of their demand and urged the Chief Minister as well as the Education Minister to intervene into the matter for providing justice to them.
The protest was organized under the banner of J&K Temporary Teachers Association 20014.
While addressing the protesting teachers, president of the Association, Balwinder Singh Pawar, sought attention of the State Government towards the demand of temporary teachers and redressal of their grievance. He warned that the insensitive attitude of the authorities and frustration among the aggrieved teachers may force some of them to think of taking extreme step.
He appealed the Chief Minister to personally look into the matter and take a sympathetic view on the genuine demand of temporary teachers.
The protest demonstration was also addressed by some other leaders of the Association, who vowed to take their struggle to a logical conclusion.
