UDHAMPUR, July 25: In a shocking incident, a teenaged girl was allegedly raped by her cousin at village Barmeen in Ramnagar, here yesterday.
According to police, the accused namely Jogender Kumar committed rape on the victim when the duo was on way to home from Udhampur.
Both of them had boarded a bus at Udhampur last evening and on reaching Barmeen, they started covering the distance up to home on foot. However, in the midway, the accused allegedly overpowered the girl and raped her taking advantage of darkness and isolated area.
On reaching home, the victim narrated the incident to family members, who took her to Police Station and lodged a complaint.
Police have registered a case in this connection and launched a hunt to nab the accused, who was absconding since the incident.
