JAMMU: Speaker of J&K Assembly, Kavinder Gupta, today said that team work and a missionary spirit is pre-requisite to achieve social and economic development of the society.
The Speaker, who was chief guest at a function organized by J&K Confederation of Voluntary Social & Charitable Organizations here, appreciated the efforts of voluntary organizations for acting as a catalyst among the people and the government so that optimum outcome of various schemes could be achieved.
Gupta said that the philanthropic organizations are those institutions of our society which work selflessly to address every social and economic problem being faced by the under privileged segments of the society.
The Speaker asked the officers of social welfare department to lay special focus on disadvantaged and vulnerable sections of the society such as hapless women, handicapped, disabled and aged.
Earlier, the Speaker visited Gangyal and reviewed the ongoing development works including construction of bridge between Ram Lila Ground and Bazigar Basti in the area besides various works going on in Government Rajiv Gandhi and LRPO.
