Teaching Vivekanand’s philosophy

Sir,
It is heartening to read that the Swami Vivekanand Chair of the Central University of Jammu (CUJ) organized a lecture on the life and philosophy of Swami Vivekanand, in which the dignitories explained the teachings of Swami Vivekanand and stressed for teaching Vivekanand’s philosophy in educational institutions to develop confidence and leadership among the youth to lead a virtuous life. There is no doubt that Swami Vivekanand was a great saint, social reformer and philosopher who  played a key role in propagating Hinduism, which he considered as the  best of all religions in the world and made it globally acceptable. He was a great patriot, thinker, philosopher, saint and world teacher who played a key role in the welfare, progress and elevation of humanity. He was a great Indian who considered India as ‘land of virtue’.Through his enlightening lectures, he always emphasised on doing work and  awakened the soul of our nation. He believed in ‘man making’ and said that education is not merely the collection of information; it is rather the manifestation of perfection already in man.He didn’t believe in discrimination in sexes and considered man and woman as two wings of a bird and said that a bird cannot fly with one wing. His views were far ahead of his times. He said that the ideal of womanhood in India is motherhood and termed mothers as unselfish, everforgiving human beings. He believed that the everwavering mind can be controlled by the practice of concentration.
In view of the great relevance of his philosophy and teaching in modern times,it is imperative that his life and philosophy is propagated to the youth by including his philosophy and teachings in the school and college curriculum.  His works include essays, letters, poems, hymns etc and the books based on his life and philosophy should be made  available on the bookshelves of every school and district library and should be issued to the  students and the youth to give an insight into the life and teachings of this great son of Mother India, who brought her laurels by popularising Hinduism across the world.
Yours etc…..
