Teaching Commerce to 10+2 classes

An innovative approach in education determines quality excellence on the basis of experience, practice and knowledge.In fact teaching becomes more effective when it is meaningful, concise, relevant,easier in communication, subject oriented and quantum in knowledge. The teacher must be allowed to work within positive educational implications having delivered subjectivity in a relaxed manner specially at higher stage.Therefore, a few academic subjects of higher  secondary classes have been further bifurcated from time to time developing into new concepts in respect of their being complex in nature, larger in size and different in kind.In view of all this, Commerce group also needs to be bifurcated into two components viz: 1.Study of Enterpreneurship and Business Studies under Business School and 2. Study of Accountancy, Business Mathematics and Stenography under Commerce faculty.
Historical Approach
With the advent of time, after inception of +2 system in the higher secondary schools in the year 1974-75. Biology was taught by a single lecturer despite his being M.Sc. in Botany or Zoology which was further bifurcated as Botany ,Zoology, Microbiology and Biotechnology etc. etc. each being taught by a  single lecturer on the theory of a single lecturer single subject. Similarly, Mathematics has been bifurcated into new Mathematics & Statistics, now a days, being taught by an independent lecturer even when a lecturer M.Sc.(Maths) was deputed either to teach both the subjects or even only Statistics. By and large,every subject was given full autonomy to make teaching more effective.Thus, a qualified lecturer in a particular subject was recruited keeping in view the availability of the subject expert. To make classroom full of congenial environment for gainful teaching, the attention has also been shifted from M.Ed. qualification to M.A. education treating equally both the degrees now equivalent to each other for teaching subject Education existing within the same faculty.  But it is an irony of fate that only a  lecturer in Commerce (M.Com.) still continues teaching all the four compulsory subjects whereas a well qualified MBA lecturer is essentially required to teach two subjects of Business Studies. Thus 50:50 of the syllabus may be covered as per administrative approval of Jammu University opening Business School under separate faculty.
Perceptible Suggestions
Since there is no dearth of M.B.A. post graduates who are easily available not only in the open market but also in the School Department, the M.B.A. Master being a concerned one must be given preference to teach his own two subjects viz. Business Studies and Enterprenuership. He will also propose a project work based on Retail Marketing & supervise the same accordingly. Similarly a lecturer in Commerce (M.Com.) should only teach Business Mathematics/ Accountancy/Economics subjects to both of the +2 classes taking four periods a day for teaching besides devoting two more periodsin checking Home assignments/ Classwork/ correction  work for higher secondary classes part I & II. He will also engage himself for six periods a day teaching both the classes like that of M.B.A. lecturer who will also teach six periods resulting equal balance of teaching load. This will lead to quality improvement due to subject relevance in teaching by an appropriate qualified man.The students of Commerce group will be more impressed duly taught by the subject teacher after making delebrations in detail whenever necessary. Obviously  the keen interest of the students and deep knowledge of the teacher in his subject  will fecilitate the teaching learning process more & more making it strongly productive.
The students will not become bored accordingly & will take much interests. In fact , it becomes a step motherly treatment when the authorities appoint four lecturers, each to teach a subject for two periods a day for Humanities group including the subjects of Hindi, Pol Science,Education, Economics, Sociology etc.in which one possesses Master degree. Whereas  we expect one man to teach all the four subjects of Commerce taking eight periods every day for 11th & 12th classes ignoring checking of homework & classwork. Psychologically, it is a boredom & unfair exercise to teach continuously for all the eight periods a day which spoils the mental hygiene of the lecturer. In addition, if  M.B.A.lecturer who possesses special mastery over the subjects of Business Studies & Enterpreneurship (50% of the syllabus) is appointed to teach his own subjects in Commerce group will logically improve the quality of teaching.This special arrangement will definitely enable the 11th & 12th class students of Commerce group to be highly satisfied in learning when being tuted two subjects of Business Studies faculty by  the M.B.A.lecturer. Thus he will be wholly solly responsible for the result percentage of both the classes of 11th & 12th in  teaching  his own subject. Similarly the M.Com. lecturer will be held responsible only for the examination result of Business Mathematics, Stenography & that of Accountancy to be taught to 11th & 12th  classes. The services of  M.B.A. lecturer will also help to maintain status of  M.Com lecturer who will feel enough relief when he teaches his own two specialised subjects. This partnership between lecturer of Commerce faculty & the lecturer of Business Studies  faculty will make the syllabus more easier to understand as this will be based & designed on the theory of super degree of expertise, speciality, eligibility, bifurcating the commerce group into two faculties viz: Commerce & Business Studies by the Jammu University, depending on its reliability for attaining higher level of access, equity and excellence. The positive message will go to the new entrants to opt for Commerce group being curious to study & seek skillful jobs/trades after their graduation & post graduation.
The bifurcation as approved and structured by two faculties will surely catch imagination of new comers in XI & XII classes,thus,deploying at least two lecturers one for teaching specialised subjects of Business Mathematics, Stenography & that of Accountancy by the M Com teacher besides teaching the other two subjects of Business Studies & Enterpreneurship by the MBA teacher who is more competent & qualified as approved by the University. He will also supervise a mini project based on Retails Marketing.
Ultimate Target- Job Priority
Since most of the students belonging to the rural community   wish to undergo  short term courses  & workshops & those hailing from urban community wish to opt for business profession, both the  communities signify that students passing +2,  either would go to higher education to gain higher level of Business Studies in near future or most of them will gain momentum for service in private sector. They may like to go for jobs in Business sector as the government jobs would be squeezing towards reduction due to gainful availability of machines & technologies day by day. However, they will meet over  demand for private jobs & work hard raising their standard of professional competence more high.Thus, they will help making private sector as an autonomous institute, a winsome one for a lot of skilled workers building many others as job providers instead of job seekers as already suggested & desired by Naeem Akhter Education Minister of J&K state.
