This has reference to the bill passed by Parliament of India recently regarding the amendment in Right to Education. The Act provides that all the untrained teachers (who have not possessed B. Ed etc.) have to go through a diploma in elementary education through National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) by March 2019, otherwise they will lose their job. But this act is totally injustice to teacher community. First, the said diploma has no promotional benefit. Second the diploma in elementary education should be meant for teachers with qualification 10+2 and not for teachers graduate and above. There should be provision of B.Ed degree programme for teachers having qualification graduate and above. If such diploma has no promotional benefit, then what is the fun of such qualification. Its a clear cut harassment to teachers. The Education Department should look into the matter very minutely and take necessary action without any delay.
