KISHTWAR, June 29: Hundreds of teachers took out protest march and held demonstration against the order issued by District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kishtwar, which made it mandatory for teachers to get ‘attendance certificates’ before their salary is being released.
A large numbers of teachers took out protest march from Dak Bungalow Kishtwar to DC office complex, where they held demonstration and demand revocation of order.
Pertinently, on June 14 this year, the DDC Kishtwar Angrez Singh Rana issued an order, wherein it was stated that all teachers need to get an ‘attendance certificate’ duly signed by the local Sarpanch and ten parents of the school they have been posted in before their salary will be released.
On June 25 this year, after the teachers demanded the order to be revoked and threatened to go on mass leave, the DDC issued another order, wherein it was stated that ‘no work no pay’.
The order regarding ‘no work no pay’ evoked sharp criticism from the teachers, who attended the school but abstained from work. The teachers also shared pictures of their pens on the table on social media, in order to express their resentment.
On getting information about the protest, CEO Kishtwar reached the spot and took up the issue of protesting teachers with Director School Education Jammu Anuradha Gupta who gave assurance to revoke the said order.
After getting assurance, the protesting teachers dispersed.
