JAMMU, July 27: In order to provide better infrastructures and quality education in Government schools, former Dy. CM and MLA Gandhi Nagar, Kavinder Gupta, today inaugurated newly constructed additional classrooms worth Rs 13.33 lakhs at Government High School Deeli, Channi , Jammu.
On the occasion, Gupta said the teacher’s role is considerably different today than it used to be. Teachers were once issued a specific curriculum to teach, and a set of instructions on how to teach it, using the same methods for all students. In today’s world, a teacher’s role is quite multifaceted. Their job is to counsel students, help them learn how to use their knowledge and integrate it into their lives, so that they will become valuable members of society. Teachers are encouraged to adapt learning methods to each individual student’s learning, to challenge and inspire them to learn.
Gupta further said that the role of a teacher is clearly more than just planning and executing lesson plans. In some senses, because the teacher spends so much time with the students, she or he can become the student’s third parent. Teachers can be a constant positive role model for their students, particularly for children that lack a solid family foundation.
Kavinder Gupta said that the Government is working under a well-knit strategy to provide better infrastructure and education facilities in Government schools of the State. He assured that the playground of the school would be upgraded soon to enable the students participate in sports activities.
On the demand of school administration to provide ceiling fans and desks in school, Gupta assured them that he would take up the matter with concerned authorities and NGOs, so that necessary action could be taken up in this regard.
Gupta also took stock of development activities being executed in the School and asked the concerned to ensure timely and quality completion of these vital works.
Earlier, Gupta visited all sections of the schools and inspected the status of functioning there.
