Srinagar July 17: Jammu and Kashmir Masters Union today threatened to intensify protests if their demands are not fulfilled within a week.
Scores of Government teachers assembled at Press Enclave here and projected their demands including release of pending salaries and delinking their salaries from the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA). The protesting teachers also demanded that they should be adjusted back in the department against clear vacancies.
They raised slogans against the Government and carried banner and placards inscribed with slogans in favor of their demands. They dispersed peacefully but threatened to intensify protests if their issues are not addressed. “ We will close all the school soft the valley if our demands are not met.”
The protestors said the delay in salaries was taking a heavy toll on their lives, “our salaries are pending from last five months. What will our children eat,” a protestor said.
The teachers said that the Governor administration should look into the matter and resolve the issue.
