Srinagar, Jan 20: Training its guns on Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK), Dr Shah Faesal, Jammu and Kashmir Teachers’ Forum (JKTF) today said it will hold a protest demonstration on January 30 here against the screening test order and accused the Director of vendetta in lieu of transfer policy.
Senior trader union leader and JKTF chairman, Abdul Qayoom Wani today in a press conference asked the Government to “stop screening test drama”. “We will oppose any move to play with honour and dignity of the teachers. The Government is misinterpreting High Court order. The Court order is for those who have obtained fake degree certificates. We are not against the verification of degrees but asking all Rehbar-e-Taleem (ReT) teachers to appear in screening test is akin to their insult and the Government should stop this drama. We will oppose this tooth and nail,” he said.
Wani said the Government instead of holding screening test should regularize those ReT teachers who have completed five years in service and clear withheld time bound cases. The JKTF chairman lashed out at DSEK Shah Faesal and accused him of vendetta and victimizing trade union leaders and teachers.
“In lieu of transfer policy the Director is victimizing and targeting trade union leaders. He is misusing transfer policy and we want its implementation in letter and spirit. The government should constitute a committee to probe the rampant transfers made by the Director,” he said and warned him to “stop playing with fire”.
Wani accused the Director of issuing disrespectful statements against the teachers and urged him to restrain himself. “The basic motive of these statements is to divert the attention from primary issues and to dishonour the teachers,” he said, adding: “trade union is our constitutional right.”
He condemned the ban on private coaching of Government teachers in winters and said the move has deprived thousands of poor students of education. “The Super-50 coaching is for two to three thousand students but what about others?,” he said.
“I appeal all teachers and lecturers associated with Teachers Forum and Lecturers Forum to assemble at Directorate Office at January 30 to protest against the dictatorial policy of government,” Wani said.
