JAMMU, Oct 3: All Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh Teachers Federation today termed the State Government claims of streamlining education system in J&K as hollow and alleged that the Department of School Education has failed to resolve genuine problems of the teaching community.
“Tall claims of the School Education Department are just to befool the masses as the ground realities reveal that the situation has worsen as far as streamlinig of the department is concerned,” said Balwan Singh Jamwal, president of the Teachers Federation while talking to media persons, here today.
While elaborating, he lamented that still there is no timely release of grants under NPS, SSA, RMSA and Mid-Day meal while regularization of incharge officers as well as adjustment of promoted Lecturers and Masters was also pending for more than a year.
“It seems that this Government deems timely release of salary of the teaching community every month as matter of favour rather than the matter of right of the persons who have worked for the entire month,” Balwan Singh said and ridiculed the Government approach in this regard.
Also demanding timely release of Mid-Day meal grant for smooth running of the said programme, Mr Singh said that the scheme has become messy as the expenditure incurred on meal by the teachers out of their own pocket, has not been released since months together.
He also drew attention towards alleged callous attitude of the Government for regularization of incharge officers in School Education Department and adjustment of Lecturers and Masters of Jammu province, who were promoted last year. “Even as their counterparts in Kashmir valley were adjusted in August 2014, the Masters promoted as Lecturer in Commerce here are still awaiting their adjustment,” he explained and lamented that their other demands like grant of cash in-lieu, release of Senior Teacher grade, etc were also not addressed.
The Federation also alleged that no transparency was maintained in recent transfers in the School Education Department.
Others, who were present in the press conference, included Joginder Singh Manhas, Manga Ram Sharma, Sudershan Sharma, Vijay Sharma, Chaman Lal, Tara Chand and Shamsher Singh.
