JAMMU, Sept 5: Teachers’ Day was celebrated today with great enthusiasm in educational institutions across Jammu and Kashmir, as students along with their teachers paid heartfelt tribute to Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan an eminent philosopher, teacher and former president of India.
Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University celebrated the Day with great fervor. On the occasion, Prof Akbar Masood, Vice Chancellor of the University paid rich tributes to Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan on his birth anniversary. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Akbar extended his profound gratitude and admiration to all the esteemed educators whose dedication and intellect have been instrumental in shaping young minds and fostering a love for learning.
Central University of Kashmir (CUK) Vice-Chancellor, Prof A Ravinder Nath, was honoured with the “Teacher Excellence Award” by the Central University of Rajasthan in a function organized to commemorate Teachers Day. Prof A Ravinder Nath, received the award from the chief guest, Haribhau Bagde, Governor of Rajasthan, in the presence of Prof Anand Bhalerao (VC Central University of Rajasthan), noted academicians, faculty members, administrative staff, research scholars and students.
Dogra Law College organized a vibrant Teachers’ Day celebration, honouring the dedicated educators who have been instrumental in shaping their academic journey. The event held to showcase a heartfelt tribute to the teaching staff with a series of engaging activities, including games, songs, dance, and the traditional lighting of the lamp to mark the beginning of the festivities. The event was graced by the presence Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak, Chairman, Dogra Educational Trust, Dr Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary, Dogra Educational Trust, and other dignitaries.
A colourful function was also organized by Government SPMR College of Commerce, Jammu and Rotary International, Jammu Tawi to celebrate Teachers Day. Vice Chancellor of the Cluster University of Jammu, Prof Bechan Lal was the chief guest on the occasion. He honoured Dr Sandeep Dogra (HoD Microbiology, GMC Jammu) and Dr Vishal Sharma (HoD Electronics, GCW Udhampur) among five other distinguished personalities with ‘Best Teacher Award’ in presence of Principal, SPMR College of Commerce, Prof Rajinder Singh, president, Rotary Club Jammu Balwinder Singh and other executive members.
IQAC and the Cultural Committee of Government College for Women, Bhagwati Nagar organized a cultural programme on the eve of Teacher’s Day under the patronage of Dr Meeru Abrol, Principal of the College. The programme started with paying tribute to Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. The programme included various colourful cultural items like folk dance, recitation of poems, inspirational speeches, rendition of melodious songs etc.
GGM Science College marked Teacher’s Day with exceptional enthusiasm and reverence under the guidance of Prof (Dr) Ramesh Kumar Gupta, Principal of the College. The event, meticulously organized by the students, showcased their deep respect and admiration for their teachers. Students performed a scintillating cultural show to denote their love, respect, acknowledgement and recognition of the hard work put in by the teachers towards their development.
SPPND Government Degree College, Samba celebrated the Day with great enthusiasm and reverence. In a solemn and respectful gesture, a floral tribute was paid to Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan an eminent philosopher, teacher and former president of India. A key feature of the programme was the heartfelt speeches delivered by students. The College Principal Prof (Dr) Twinkle Suri delivered an inspiring speech, emphasizing the invaluable role teachers play in shaping the character and values of their students.
The Indian Institute of Mass Communication Jammu (IIMC Jammu) honored its faculty members on Teachers’ Day. The lighting of the lamp was done by Professor Anil Saumitra, Dr Dilip Kumar (Regional Director), and faculty members. A series of captivating performances by the students followed. The cultural extravaganza continued with a series of games and performances. The ‘dumb charades’ game featured movie guessing names by Teachers proved to be a hilarious highlight.
GDC Ghagwal celebrated the Day under the guidance of Principal, Dr Sujata Slathia. The students meticulously planned a celebration to honor the occasion, showcasing their respect and admiration for their teachers. The event was attended by the faculty, including Prof Vijay, Dr Bavita, Dr Vani Awasthi, and Amrita Sharma, who, alongside Dr Sujata Slathia, enjoyed the heartwarming and lively function.
A vibrant function was organized on Teachers Day at GDC Hiranagar. The event, held in honor of the teachers, was a joyous occasion filled with music, dance, and games. The programme began with paying floral tribute to Dr S Radhakrishnan by Principal of the College, Dr Pragya Khanna, who in his address recognized the vital role teachers play in shaping the future of students.

Government Polytechnic Jammu celebrated the day with great zeal and fervor. The function was presided over by Arun Bangotra, Principal of the College. The celebration began with giving tribute to Dr S Radhakrishnan. Various faculty members shared their views on Teachers Day. Following this, students of the Institute presented various cultural programme, exhibiting their talents and skills.
Jammu Institute of Ayurveda and Research (JIAR), Jammu celebrated Teachers’ Day, expressing their gratitude and appreciation for their teachers. The faculty members paid floral tributes to Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Students prepared heartfelt cards, brought gifts and share a handmade note to their teachers to honour them and thank them. Some of the students even organized small events and performances to reveal their love and respect for their teachers.
The Day was also celebrated at CCI Palaash Budhal under the guidance of Zahid Farooq, In-charge Superintendent. Inmates of Palaash Budhal actively participated, delivering heartfelt speeches that conveyed their deep appreciation for the guidance and wisdom provided by their teachers. The event also featured a cultural program, with performances emphasizing the value of education and the transformative power teachers hold in shaping young minds.
Stephens Group of Institutions hosted a grand celebration to honour the invaluable contributions of its educators. Director Satvinder Saini and Trustee Advocate Kunal Saini presided over the function accompanied by Principal Stephens International Public School, Dr Manjari Sehgal, Principal Stephens College of Pharmacy Dr Bilal Zarger, Principal College of Nursing Prof Kheema Peshin, Vice Principal SIPS Shweta Bakshi and Headmistress Khushboo Shaminotra. A brief event was organized by the management where teachers delighted in captivating dance and musical performances.

Rich Harvest School (RHS) paid rich tributes to the 2nd President of India Dr S Radhakrishnan on his Birth Anniversary–which is celebrated as Teacher’s Day. The students expressed their love and gratitude for their mentors through emotional songs, skits and scintillating dance performances. Director of RHS Ruchi Charak and the Head of the Institute Anita Bhatia were also present.
Shiksha Niketan Higher Secondary School, Jeevan Nagar (Jammu) organized a colour function to celebrate Teachers Day. The function was attended by C L Sharma (Director Horticulture Jammu) as chief guest and Taranjeet Singh Tony (DDC Suchetgarh). Students presented various cultural items including a skit. In his speech, the chief guest states that “Teacher plants the seeds of knowledge that grow forever”. Principal of the School, Rameshwar Mengi also spoke on the occasion.
Teacher’s Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the staff and students in Sai Shyam Educational Society. In his welcome address, Sanjeew Pandita (Principal, Sai Shyam Public Higher Secondary School) threw light on Teachers’ Day, its historical aspects and its significance. Director Sai Shyam Educational Society Dr Usha Tickoo shared her views on the significance of the day and role of teacher in the overall development of the Institution.
The Day was celebrated by the students of Alexander Memorial School, Jammu with great zeal. The senior students of class 10th played the role of teachers and managed the classes. Besides, students presented colourful cultural items including skit and dances. On the occasion, Principal Esther William honoured those teachers who served the school with dedication.
Teachers’ Day was celebrated with great zeal at Crescent Public School, Naseem Bagh, Srinagar, and First Cry Pre-School, Srinagar. Students, staff, and dignitaries gathered to honor and appreciate the hard work and dedication of teachers. ASN Higher Secondary School, Channi Himmat celebrated the Day inside the School auditorium. PB Kapoor, M D of Adarsh Educational Trust was the chief guest on the occasion while Ritesh Kapoor, Director of the School, presided over the function. The Composite Regional Centre (CRC) Jammu marked Teachers’ Day with great enthusiasm and joy, celebrating the invaluable contributions of educators who shape the lives of Children with Special Needs (CWSN). The event was held at the CRC Jammu campus. The celebration began with welcome address by the Director of CRC Jammu, Dr Rohnika Sharma. The event featured a variety of activities and performances by the children, showcasing their talents and skills. The children participated in songs, dances, and poetry recitation. A special felicitation ceremony was also held to honor the teachers and staff.
