Teachers’ Day celebrated virtually by various educational institutions

JAMMU, Sept 5: Teachers’ Day was celebrated today in various educational institutions across J&K and Ladakh by organizing various online activities and paying tributes to Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, an Indian philosopher, academician and statesman who served as the first Vice President of India and second President of India.
In his message on the Teachers’ Day, Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad applauded the selfless role of teachers in nourishing the young minds of children thereby guiding them to the realm of eternal wisdom and facilitating them to create a path of their own towards a successful tomorrow. Khan said that the teachers are doing exemplary services by delivering online classes and conducting online exams despite all odds in the COVID-19 pandemic.
To mark the occasion, a function was organized at Chenab College Education during which tributes were paid to Dr S Radhakrishnan on his birth anniversary. Speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr Inderjeet Kour said that Dr Radhakrishnan was a great teacher, philosopher and the second President of India.
GGM Science College, Jammu organized an intercollegiate online video making competition under the aegis of Principal, Dr Ravender Tickoo, to celebrate Teacher’s Day. Shivam Khajuria of SMVDU secured the first position, Sonia Salgotra of GGM Science College and Ashish Badrala (School of Sciences CLUJ) shared 2nd position. Ananya Sharma (School of Sciences CLUJ), Harshika Verma (GCW Parade), Bhanu Pratap Singh (GGM Science College), Mrinalini Pathania (GCW Gandhi Nagar), Muskan Mahajan and Vanshika Sharma (both from School of Sciences CLUJ), came in third place.
Government PG College for Women, Gandhi Nagar celebrated the Day with the theme ‘Upbeat the Rosette’. The theme followed with a student passing Rose to the other, representing love and lovely blossoms. The celebrations were organized under the guidance of Principal Prof (Dr) Sangita Nagari and Prof (Dr) Surjit Kour Raina (event coordinator).
On the occasion, GDC R S Pura organized an online short essay writing competition on the topic “My Teacher, My Hero: Appreciation” under the guidance of Prof Sunita Sudan, Principal of the College. The first prize was clinched by Kajal Thakur of GGM Science College. The second prize was shared by Poornima Jojra of GDC R S Pura and Atfar Jan of GDC Boys Anantnag while the third prize was shared by Nikita Karuna of School of Humanities and Liberal Arts, Cluster University, Jammu and Priya Devi of Government College for Women Education, Udhampur.
Government P G College Rajouri celebrated Teachers’ Day by organizing virtual seminar on the topic “Role of Technology in Teaching”. Students and staff of the college participated in the seminar. Among the students, Shabeena Chowdhary bagged 1st position where as 2nd and 3rd positions were clinched by Vishwapreet Singh and Mohd Saleem. Principal of the college Prof (Dr) Shakeel Ahmed Raina presided over the programme.
In GDC Marh, the Day was celebrated by paying tributes to Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan by Principal Aekta Gupta and staff of college. Many students performed various activities like poetry, speech, qoutes through online mode. Ankita Mottan and Dhamini Sundhal of 3rd semester presented their view on the topic “Role of teachers in the pandemic” while Janvi Sharma presented poetry. Many others send online qoutes and cards to the teachers.
GDC Ramgarh organized an inter college speech competition through online mode under the guidance of Principal Prof (Dr) Meeru Abrol. Kajal Saini and Navneet Kour (both from GCW Gandhi Nagar) shared 1st position while Seema Devi of GDC Ramkote secured second position. Pallavi Sharma of GDC Ramkote secured third position.
To mark the occasion, GDC Jindrah organized various activities such as online poster making under the guidance of Principal Prof Dr Raj Shree Dhar. Latief and Chakshu Sharma delivered speeches, on the life of Dr Sarvapalli Radha Krishnan and their contribution in the field of education. The students of the College also sent greeting cards through online mode to their teachers.
GDC Banihal organized a webinar on ‘Teacher’s Day’. In the webinar, eight students delivered speeches. Danish Rafiq of semester-1 got first position while second position was shared by three students and third position by four students. Speaking on the occasion, Principal Prof Dileep Kumar highlighted the importance of teachers in shaping the careers of students.
An intra-college elocution competition was held in GDC Ramkote to mark the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. All the participants were told to submit 1 to 2-minute video related to the life and preaching of Dr Radhakrishnan. The first position was clinched by Seema Devi of semester 3rd, second position was secured by Nikhil Gupta of semester 3rd and the third position was shared by Pallavi Sharma and Raman Sharma (both of semester 3rd). Dr Ashu Vashisht, Principal, GDC, Ramkote also addressed the students.
GDC Thanamandi in collaboration with IQAC celebrated Teacher’s Day with pomp and show. Fifteen students presented their talks on the topic “Role of Teachers in the society”. Sami-ul-Fatima, Zarnigah, Shaheen and Insha Shakeel bagged first, 2nd and third positions, respectively. A slogan writing competition was also organized in which 21 students participated. The entire programme was organized under the supervision of Principal Dr J A Qazi.
Government Polytechnic Jammu celebrated Teachers’ Day on online platform in which all the staff and students of the college participated. The chief guest for the occasion was Sajad Hussain Ganai, Director Skill Development Department, J&K. Arun Bangotra, Principal of the Polytechnic presided over the function. On the occasion various online competitions were organized on ‘Google Meet’ platform.
The first of its kind virtual Teacher’s Day was unlocked and celebrated at Delhi Public School, Udhampur where students showered their love and gratitude for their teachers. The grand celebration started with speech by Pro Vice Chairman of the School, Dr JC Gupta. Thereafter, the scintillating dance performances, poem recitation, speeches on Teacher’s Day, interesting fun games and melodious songs electrified the whole atmosphere. The programme ended with speech of MD Vivek Gupta, Director Academics and Principal Dr Kunal Anand.
Mother India Senior Secondary School, R S Pura organized a virtual motivational session for students and teachers on the occasion. The session was conducted by Raj Kumar Dogra, an eminent spiritual and motivational speaker. Later, the staff members of the school in the presence of the Principal Sonia Tohra paid tributes to Dr S Radhakrishnan.
Tributes were paid to Dr S Radhakrishnan on his birthday at Boys Higher Secondary School, Sarna (Samba). Principal Suraj Singh Rathore and Jyoti Baru (Lecturer of Education) threw light on the teachings of Dr Radhakrishnan. Staff members of the School and children were also present on the occasion.
Government Higher Secondary School Jakhbar (Kathua) celebrated the occasion by paying tributes to Dr Radhakrishnan. Principal Davinder Paul asked the staff to follow the footsteps of Dr Radhakrishnan. Earlier, Satish Chandel (Senior Lecturer) dedicated the poem “Kabhi Socha Na Tha” to teachers in present time of Corona Pandemic.
R M Public School, Chowadhi Sainik Colony, Jammu conducted an online competition on the topic “Importance of teachers” under the guidance of Principal Ravinder Kaur. The competition was organized under the supervision of Principal Ravinder Kaur. The 1st position was bagged by Diya Charak of 8th A, 2nd position was secured by Stuti of 8th A and 3rd position was bagged by Samridhi Rajput of class 8th B.
In order to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr S Radhakrishnan, today ‘bicycle for change’ organized a 40 km ride which started from Hatli Morh (Kathua) and culminated at Kathua. Cyclists Lukesh, Varun Pathak, Avinash Charak, Prakhar, Sanjeev, Deep, Lucky and many others participated in the ride with full enthusiasm.
Aadarsh Bhartiya Samaj (a social organization) observed “Teacher’s Day” in its Office cum Library at Bhour Camp Jammu with the message ‘Respect teachers’ and explored the message – ‘Love teachers and respect teachers’ to have the educated and scientific world generation.  On the occasion, the organization wished the teaching faculty and remembered the teachings of Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan.
Pushp Vatika, Jeevan Nagar organized a function on Teacher’s Day. The programme was started by lamp lightning by the Principal of the school. The teachers gave splendid performance. The special guest of the function, Sunita Sharma (an experienced teacher of Pushp Vatika) was mesmerized with the performance of teachers and said the glory of the Guru cannot be written even if the whole earth is transformed into paper.
Jammu Kashmir Teach-ers/ Masters Association commemorated the birthday of Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. Speaking on the occasion, UT vice president Vikram Gupta said, “We have to imbibe all teachings of Dr Radhakrishnan in our life and give utmost respect to teachers as they are nation builders who always burn themselves like candles only to spread light of knowledge in society through formal and non formal ways”.
