JAMMU, Apr 8: A delegation of All Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh Teachers Federation called on Chief Secretary Mohd Iqbal Khanday and submitted him a charter of demands.
The delegation, led by Bhushan S Verma and Maheshwar Sharma apprised the Chief Secretary of demands, which included earned leave to vocational staff, initial higher start for Graduate and PG teachers, Selection Grade for Masters and removal of their pay anomaly, Selection Grade to undergraduate teachers, etc.
The Federation leaders explained that all employees in J&K, except the vocational staff in Education Department, get benefit of earned leave/leave en-cashment after retirement. Since the vocational staff performs institutional and other duties, such as surveys, election and census duties throughout the calendar, they must be awarded ten day per year earned leave like the Central Government does as per Supreme Court guidelines.
The delegation also explained the genuineness of other demands, which have already been put forth before the Government for the consideration.
The Chief Secretary gave a patient hearing to the deputation and called the Finance Secretary to discuss the matter for further action.
Other members of the deputation included Raja Mohd Ahmed Khan, Kuldeep Singh, Rampal Saini and Ghulam Nabi Malik.
