Teacher has to be innovative to reach heart & mind of each learner: Dr Manjunath

JAMMU, Aug 7: Dr D Manjunath, Deputy Commissioner (DC), Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), Regional Office Jammu, today said that while teaching online a teacher has to be innovative enough to reach the heart & mind of each learner, besides fulfilling the expectations of the society as well.
He gave this message to faculty of Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) Number 1 and 2 in Akhnoor area during surprise visits of these schools. “A teacher has to perform its duty of a professional as well as a social reformer. Measures like plantation drive, reaching out to the parents of the students on a regular basis, helping them & their wards to cope with the changing pandemic situations and using innovative pedagogical techniques will surely make an educational institution outstanding,” he added.
At KV Number 1, Dr Manjunath lauded the utilization of Bi-Focal pedagogy by one of the science teacher named Rita Bhagat who successfully employed two web cameras from two adjacent directions while teaching online. Furthermore, he appreciated the teachers while they were teaching in their respective classrooms using desktops, notebooks, webcams placed on tripod stands, interactive pads, whiteboards while online teaching. He also started the plantation drive in pursuance to the instructions issued by Government of J&K.
Dr Manjunath praised the implementation of Nipun Bharat initiatives with a focus on literacy & numeracy, with the help of public outreach initiatives like distribution of printed colour workbooks to the parents of class-1 students in person each week, collecting the completed workbooks and returning them with suggestions to improve upon, despite the COVID pandemic restrictions.
He met and talked with the parents of the students of Class-1 and studied their perspectives. Here also, he applauded the utilization of Bi-Focal pedagogy by one of the Mathematics teacher named Dharampal who also successfully employed two web cameras from two adjacent directions while teaching online.
