Teacher among two booked by CB for duping job seekers

JAMMU, Mar 13: The Crime Branch (CB) has registered two separate cases against two accused, including a notorious fraudster and a Government school teacher, for allegedly duping innocent individuals by promising them Government jobs.
Among the two accused, one has been identified as Jameel Anjum, son of Nasir Ahmad, a resident of Ustad Mohalla, Jammu. Notably, Anjum has a history of fraudulent activities, with as many as 10 cases already registered against him in Police Stations EOW, SCW and Pacca Danga, Jammu. Out of these, three cases have been challaned in the court, while investigations in seven other cases are still ongoing.
A “History Sheet” has also been maintained against the accused Government school teacher Jameel Anjum at Police Station Pacca Danga, Jammu. Additionally, Crime Branch has opened a “Personal File” against him as per rules due to his involvement in multiple cases of criminal conspiracy, fraud, cheating, forgery, and impersonation.
Anjum has now been booked following a written complaint by Rashid Manhas, a resident of Gujjar Nagar, Jammu. The complainant alleged that the fraudster teacher duped him of a huge sum of money and gold items under the false promise of securing Government jobs for him and his sister.
The second accused booked in a separate case is Masroor Ahmad, son of Mohd Shabir, a resident of Ghambir Moghla, district Rajouri. He has been accused of defrauding complainant Sunil Kumar from Suchetgarh, Jammu, by falsely assuring him of a Government job.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Crime Jammu, Benam Tosh, has confirmed that two separate FIRs-case FIR Number 15/2025 and case FIR Number 16/2025-have been registered to facilitate a thorough investigation into the matter.
