VIJAYPUR Mar  21:  Asking people to teach deceptive and self-centric outfits like PDP and BJP a befitting lesson in the upcoming  elections to Urban Local Bodies, for plunging Jammu and Kashmir into unprecedented political crisis, former minister  Surjeet Singh Slathia today  exuded confidence that National Conference will rebound back in a big way and register massive win in the democratic exercise at grass roots level.
“For lust of power, the PDP and BJP stand fragmented in bits and pieces with several power centres emerging in the two parties”, Mr Slathia said while  addressing  public meeting at Ramgarh in Vijaypur Assembly constituency this afternoon.
He said that well meaning  and honest candidates will make all the difference during these elections and dispense accountable and responsive governance  at  the grassroot level. He hoped young people and women too, will come forward and participate in these elections to serve people with sense of purpose.  “National Conference believes in people being the real fountain head of power and success of the party in the upcoming elections will go a long way in realizing this cherished agenda”, Mr Slathia said.
The former minister lashed out at PDP and BJP and said that drunk by the arrogance of power, they relegated development into backburner during their ten months nightmarish tenure and said the state-craft is not to hoodwink public opinion and incite passions but it is about deliverance. He said the promises made by the myopic political parties proved to be hoax, as a result of which the people are rightly feeling deceived.
Referring to history of  National Conference, he said it has tirelessly worked for betterment of people, irrespective caste, creed, colour and region. He said the party is committed to provide weaker sections, youth and women bigger role in decision making at the grass-roots level.
