He said that there is no potential for OLA cabs in J&K where business of taxi services is already jeopardized due to militancy and direct rail link to major parts of the State. “Moreover, OLA cabs are already infamous for a large number of crimes including rapes and murders in New Delhi”, he alleged.
Sharma said that if Government is really interested to start this type of services in the State, then an APS-system should be prepared like that of OLA so that the taxies can be operated on that pattern. He said this move will give direct benefit to the commuters as OLA takes 20-25% commission from its operators in outside the State, which taxi operators of the State are ready to shun.
He appealed the Government as well as Transport Minister not to start OLA services in the State otherwise taxi operators of State will come on roads and protest against this move of the Government.
Others present in the press conference were Gurdeep Singh (pradhan, Jammu Airport Taxi Association), Rajbinder Singh (vice -president, Jammu Railway Station Taxi Union) and Narayan Sharma (pradhan, Katra Taxi Association).
