‘Pak using tunnel routes to push terrorists’

JAMMU, Sept 13: Jammu and Kashmir Police has time and again proved itself by tackling multiple challenges and we need to continue working in this direction with positive approach to deal with any challenge in future also.
This was stated by the Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh during his visit to district Udhampur and district Kishtwar today.
He chaired officers meetings to review the security scenario, law and order, crime cases.
On his arrival at Udhampur, the DGP was received by IGP Jammu Mukesh Singh, DIG Udhampur-Reasi range Sujit Kumar and SSP Udhampur Sargun Shukla.
Chairing the officers meeting in District Police Lines Udhampur, the DGP stressed on enhancing the functioning of Model nakas and added that these model nakas should function round the clock with good infrastructure. He directed the officers to prepare teams to trace the absconders and take stringent action against people involved in heinous crimes.
The meeting was attended by IGP Jammu Mukesh Singh, DIG Udhampur Reasi Range Sujit Kumar, DIG SKR Atul Goel, SSP Udhampur Sargun Shukla, ASP Udhampur Rajinder Katoch and other gazetted officers of the district.
SSP Udhampur Sargun Shukla along with DIG Udhampur Reasi Range Sujit Kumar gave a detailed power point Presentation regarding the present security scenario and crime cases of Udhampur District to the DGP and other officers.
Later, DGP visited district Kishtwar. He was accompanied by IGP Jammu. The DGP was received by SSP Kishtwar Harmeet Singh Mehta and other officers.
The DGP inaugurated Aman Memorial at DPO Kishtwar built in the memory of Martyr DySP Aman Thakur, who made supreme sacrifice of his life in the line of duty in February 2019 while fighting terrorists in district Kulgam. He also presented a photo frame of the martyr to his brother and said that the nation is indebted to the sacrifice of the brave son of the soil who will always be remembered.
At TRC Kishtwar, the DGP inaugurated Open Air Gymnasium for the local people. He also inaugurated Conference Hall at DPL Kishtwar and Model Naka at Thathri.
IGP Jammu Mukesh Singh, Brigadier 9 RR Vikram Bhan, DC Kishtwar Rajinder Singh Tara, SSP Kishtwar Harmeet Singh Mehta, CO IRP 22 Battalion Shivdeep Singh, DySP DAR DPL Kishtwar, DySP Headquarters Kishtwar and other jurisdictional officers were present during these inaugurations and review meeting.
DGP also visited Delta Force Headquarters where he had detailed interaction with the GOC, DIG Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban, SSP Ramban and other territorial officers regarding security scenario and highway security measures. He also inaugurated newly set up model Naka at Nashri.
Meanwhile, DGP Dilbag Singh visited international border at Bain Glad in District Samba.
Speaking to media persons, he said, “Pakistan in the recent past and present as well, is using tunnel routes to push terrorists”
The tunnel was detected on August 28 in Samba and it was coming from Pakistan side having 25 feet depth and 2 feet to 3 feet diameter.
With context to recovery of weapons from Kulgam from a truck and arrest of two OGWs of Jaish, Singh further said that as per initial investigation, the weapons might have been dropped through drone near Samba.
“We are investigating the link”, he said. He also said that Jammu was never out of radar of the terrorists, adding, “Sunjuwan, Nagrota Fidayeen attacks are few examples can be quoted”.
“The international border runs along the national highway and the security agencies are aggressively ascertaining the tunnel detection and any infiltration”, he added.
