Take cognizance of complaints

Sir,
Media plays the role of a guardian of rights and interests of its people. People get their problems highlighted through them. In the present national scenario, aam admi is suffering from corruption prevailing in the whole system, soaring prices of essential commodities, poverty, hunger, disease, irregularities in the public distribution system, illiteracy, un- employment, terrorism and in adequate health facilities. The sufferers, finding them helpless in approaching the concerned quarters, take the shelter of the electronic and print media which give words to their sufferings through their channels and newspapers. But it is seen that often some high headed and hard skinned bureaucrats do not take notice of the lapses and the short comings of their departments highlighted in media. In this context it is worth mentioning here that many times the problems regarding the shortage of drinking water, sanitary condition, shortage of medical facilities, non-availability of commodities and LPG by the PDS department in Basohli town, restoration of RTC bus service between Basohli- Pathankot, Delhi and Hardwar, request for the withdrawal of passenger buses run by kerosene oil having lost road worthiness from Kathua-Basohli route,  have been highlighted through print media , which proved meaningless because the concerned departments, authorities neither took the cognizance of the complaints nor seemed serious about addressing those problems. It sees that the officers, bureaucrats usually do not relish those news items which pertain to complaints of the masses concerned with their departments. In order to provide justice to the sufferers and address their problems, it is therefore suggested that the concerned offices, officers should make it necessary to pick up the news items concerning their offices and take cognizance for their immediate solution, otherwise the media will lose its significance in future.
Yours etc….
